ABOUT YOU

Name: Ramen. Well, actually Carolyn-but Ramen sounds better on the internet and it's shorter for most people.
Are you 18 or over?: by six years!
Other characters played: None (though I have a reserve for Nathan Wallace and I'm looking at making this game my second home after [community profile] lastvoyages so..

CHARACTER

Name: Det. Lt. Mark Hoffman.
Canon: SAW Films (Specifically movies III-VII)
Age: 42 (Born October 9th 1966 in his world)
History: Can I be a horrible cheat and copy-paste this from another application? I think I can. (Has the most ridiculous amount of notes for this guy.)
Point in canon: mid SAW 3D-in this case, before he kills Jill Tuck and 9 police officers at the station, but after he's set up Bobby Dagen's Game. Suffering from fatigue and finished healing as far as his face goes (or just barely, as they say)
Window Location: He found a window just outside of the junk yard where he set up the horsepower trap.
Universe: SAW [Lionsgate Universe? I lol'd.]
Abilities: Hoffman has the skill set of an award winning American police officer. Skilled in deduction, crime solving, security, he's had his sense of personal safety trained away to protect others (or at least he can fake it at this point)

As a serial killer's apprentice/associate he's developed inordinate skills at sneaking, tracking, and violence. He is strong by nature, incredibly violent, and a damn good faker.
Possessions: He comes in wearing a black coat, black pants, and black combat boots. Armed with a small knife, he has a cell phone and a pig mask.
Personality: Hoffman is a complex character. A disgruntled police officer sick of letting criminals go free-he held his temper in check and controlled himself right until the moment that his sister was murdered and his killer was let free by a judicial error. When he saw that the system he had devoted his life to had let him down-he snapped and went after his sister's killer, cutting her in half and framing the serial killer Jigsaw.

Jigsaw however, made use of Hoffman's maniacal behavior. Displeased about being caught, he saw an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the police and their work against him by turning Hoffman to his side. Hoffman is by nature a follower, not particularly of people but of ideals. Jigsaw sold Hoffman on his philosophy and began to groom him to follow his views. He played to Hoffman's need for a leader (as evidenced in his history)

Hoffman, disillusioned and giving up hope, gave in and listened. Gone was the outwardly friendly guy who enjoyed life, gone was the man who his sister had known, and in their place was a guy smiling on the outside and threatening to strangle people on the inside. John encouraged Hoffman's cold attitude toward victims and his "test subjects" even when Hoffman protested against it. He helped Hoffman develop the natural authoritative streak that people who want to be in positions of power have-and turned it cruel.

Hoffman isn't cruel by nature however. You don't become a police officer or put yourself into a position of public good and be cruel-someone would notice. No, Hoffman had a desire to be a hero and a desire to be admired. He is vain by nature, a self-defense mechanism developed thanks to his background and past. He has-well-had impeccable control and discipline. The police department taught him, and John Kramer honed his control to a science. Upon his arrival however, Hoffman is out of control-or utilizing a different sort of control. He has become a predator, is wanted by his former colleagues and comrades, and is after Jill Tuck who (in his mind) killed him.

Jill's actions destroyed Hoffman's faith in John Kramer and his ideals. When she put the bear trap on his head he realized that John Kramer had never intended him to carry on the legacy. All of his actions-from removing Amanda as a potential successor who he saw as weak to killing his colleagues were fruitless. He realized that John had turned him into a madman, and rather then turning himself in his innate fear kicked in. He reacted with pureblind rage, avenging his seeming "death"-the death of his good name and his career along with his colleagues and friends.

The sad fact is that John's teaching can't be unlearned. He has become addicted to power and judgement. In the right hands he can be a valuable tool or asset. Potentially, if provided with what he wants (The Death of Jill Tuck or the potential for it to happen) he can be a valuable ally.

Plans: Hoffman could go a couple of ways. He's mid SAW-and the person who basically cut his face open is going to end up in the observatory-however-she's a doctor and he's just a cop. I have yet to plot with his canonmate about things that we'd like to do together or where we'd like to go (such as, will they make nice given their current situation, will he just play nice and bide his time and build allies and then attack.)

Honestly, whenever I see these kind of games I'd like to see Hoffman do security. He's still dealing with his "psychosis" and "must kill Jill Tuck" so so far my plans for him involve him-doing whatever he can around the observatory and making allies (he's lost the ability to make friends at this point.) Ultimately, he's a survivor so he'll do whatever it takes to survive. I think he'd fit best with the search and rescue team-as a cop and someone with experience dealing with SWAT teams (not personally, but.) he can handle himself.

Shoot, should anyone want a SAW world quest I would be more then willing to write something up. While there's no magic there, it could easily be fun (and who knows, depending on how it plays it out he could kidnap people and drag them there right? We'll see how it plays out. Either way, for now he'll be keeping his cool in an effort to freak out Jill. Especially if he figures out the specters)

Notes: I have all kinds of feels about daemons. I used to mod daemonmuses on livejournal (as a prompt community) so I'll throw my hat into helping if you guys feel up to it.

DÆMON

Name: Apasia [Greek. Meaning "Welcome"]
Sex: Female.
Form: Wolverine.
Additional notes: I'm fascinated by the notion of daemons reflecting someone's mental state (like, if a person is crazy, how does their daemon look? If a person has a psychotic break how does their daemon look? Does it change? Do their voices change?) That has no bearing really on Hoffman's daemon. In this case, it has no bearing but something to think about, as Hoffman had a psychotic break. IDK mods, if I can think of something (I had it written that people with creative disorders or you know-issues like that had exceptionally beautiful daemons. BUT)

For game purposes (lol watch me do all my talking.) Apasia is a dark brown wolverine with a lighter brown stripe around her body. The biggest difference is, that as a wolverine she's the size of a traditional male (males are normally larger then females).
Why this form: The wolverine is a powerful and versatile predator and scavenger. Prey mainly consists of small to large-sized mammals and the wolverine has been recorded as killing prey such as adult deer that are many times larger than this predator. That's taken directly from Wikipedia and hits pretty close to home as far as Hoffman' character is concerned. Given that Apasia is a female however, she might be a degree more delicate then Hoffman himself. She represents his femininity.

She's unique-as most policemen would tend toward dogs. He has an independent streak and has become (and is by nature) a scavenger and a survivor.

And IDK since I'm a huge nerd about this kind of thing let's pretend that his sister's daemon was a white cat, and his parents (who ultimately named his daemon and his sister's) were a brown tabby cat (mother) and wolfhound (father). Not that it ultimately matters because lol-none of them ever knew they had a daemon.
